I've been wanting to write down a typical day for sometime now. Just so I don't totally forget. Though everyday is different, this is a good representation of a good (and exhausting) stay at home type day.
My Day Today
6:50- Wake up with Margot. Lay in bed until 7:20, try to sneak away but Margot wakes up immediately.
7:20-7:30- Get dressed and "ready" for the day.
7:30-8:30 - Make coffee and eat breakfast (while doing everything else), clean out vases and rearrange flowers which Jude watches while he eats breakfast in his high chair and says, "looks better mommy," start a load of laundry, take out trash and recycling, pick out Jude and Margot's clothes (today is picture day at school for Jude) while Chris changes Margot's diaper and gets her dressed. Chris goes upstairs and gets ready. I clean up breakfast while Margot plays in her walker and watches all the happenings. Chris gets Jude dressed and ready while I vacuum, then quick goodbyes and Chris and Jude are off.
8:30-8:45 - Switch laundry and get duvet coved back on bed.
8:45-9:30 - Normally Chris drops Jude off at school and goes to work but today he came back to discuss the work week and take photos of Margot and me. Meanwhile Margot has a blowout on the newly made bed- more laundry and cleanup.
9:30-10:30 - Grocery shopping at Jimbo's with Margot while she naps in her car seat.
10:30-12:15 - Put away groceries, laundry, change diaper, talk to Dad, nurse Margot, change another diaper, talk to Mom, make a fried egg with avocado, cheese and a multigrain roll, eat hurriedly, clean up and get things ready for Jude to come home. Margot plays some in her walker.
12:15 - Margot and I leave to pick up Jude at preschool.
12:30-12:45 - I get the stroller out, Margot's car seat attached, then we go inside and wait for Jude. Chat with Jude's teacher about his day, grab his artwork and lunchbox and wrangle Jude away from the train table, then get everyone and everything back in the car and buckled up.
12:45-1:30 - Get everyone back in the house, Jude cleaned up and changed, Margot plays with toys in her walker while I get Jude a snack, eye drops in (day six of round three of pink eye antibiotics), diaper changes, laundry, feed Margot baby cereal, then clean up toys and Jude's room.
1:30-1:45 - Read Pete the Cat with Jude and Margot in Jude's bed and get ready for nap time.
1:45-2:30 - Jude falls asleep by himself (a new thing) while I watch from upstairs on the monitor and nurse Margot. I lay with her while she naps. I order diapers and such on my phone while Margot sleeps.
2:30-3:00 - Change Margot's diaper, dinner prep while Margot plays in the walker and Jude naps, laundry.
3:00-3:30 - Jude wakes up and we discuss afternoon plans. We compromise on half a piece of Valentine's Day See's and a walk to the park. I get everyone ready.
3:30-4:30 - Walk to the park with Margot in the baby bjorn and Jude in his cowboy boots, play at park, Jude makes me carry him (while carrying Margot) home up the big hill.
4:30-5:30 - Get everyone cleaned up and in the house, Jude plays/runs around and makes messes while Margot plays in her walker and I steam and purée Margot's dinner (carrots, Swiss chard and tofu). Chris comes home and takes overtired Margot for a 20 minute car ride to hopefully sleep. I make dinner - brown rice, stir fry of carrots, chard, edamame, snap peas, pea pods, tofu and black sesame seeds and make a smoothie for Jude while Jude watches Thomas the Train and plays with his train in the living room.
5:30-6:15 - Chris and Margot come home, we all eat dinner, Jude gets his other half of chocolate for eating all of his dinner and convinces me to have a piece too so that he can eat half of it.
6:15-6:45 - Nurse Margot, gather PJs and take a shower with Margot in her bouncer, while Chris cleans up dinner and Jude plays.
6:45-7:15 - Chris, Margot and Jude each shower and everyone gets ready for bed and says we all say goodnight.
7:15-8:15 - Chris and Jude go downstairs to brush teeth, read books before bedtime, then Jude lays in bed and works on falling asleep. I nurse Margot and lay with her (and write all this) while she falls asleep.
8:15-10:00 - I work on my to-do lists, emails, plans for tomorrow on my phone, and have a "conversation" with Chris, eat cookies and milk in bed while Margot sleeps. If I get up Margot wakes up. Sometimes Margot wakes up anyway and needs her diaper changed and sometimes not.
10:30 - Bedtime. Sometimes we sleep and sometimes we don't. But mostly we do.
